The Puget Sound Business Journal is hosting an event next week on Thursday, July 15th. The event, Straight Talk: Business & Education, an honest and direct virtual conversation, is aimed at examining the weaknesses in the current education system that were made more apparent by the pandemic lockdowns and exploring innovations to develop new educational models better suited to preparing students for future work. WPC recently partnered with the Puget Sound Business Journal on a series of event sponsorships, and given our members' interest in improving education and entreprenuerial activity, we thought you might be interested in learning about this one. Perspectives offered will not necessarily reflect the views or recommendations of Washington Policy Center, but we appreciate the fact that the need for educational innovation is recognized and we share the view that the recent pandemic helped illuminate that need.
The event next Thursday the 15th features the following panel of speakers:
Tonya Drake – Chancellor and Regional Vice President, Western Governors University
Dr. Jon Holmen – Superintendent, Lake Washington School District
Michael Kubit – Higher Education Industry Segment Advisor, T-Mobile
Kevin McCarthy – President, Renton Technical College
