From KING 5:
SEATTLE – Half of King County residents don't like the idea of higher car tab fees to help keep Metro Transit running at its current level, according to a new KING 5 News poll. But, they are evenly split on what to do about the shortfall.
Metro gets 60 percent of its funding from sales taxes, but with the economy still lagging, not enough of those taxes have been collected. King County Executive Dow Constantine asked the King County Council this week to propose a $20 car tab fee hike that would last two years to avoid huge service cuts.
In a poll conducted by SurveyUSA, 41 percent of King County residents said Metro should cut service, but 39 percent said the county should raise revenue.
