FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SPOKANE—Washington Policy Center (WPC) announced today that former congresswoman and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard will be a keynote speaker at WPC’s Annual Dinner event in Spokane this year. The announcement continues a long line of nationally prominent speakers brought to Spokane for what has become the region’s biggest policy gala.

Past speakers include former vice-presidential candidate and U.S. Senator, Joseph Lieberman, former governor and presidential candidate Chris Christie, former Secretary of Defense General James Mattis, and former U.S. Secretary for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Ben Carson. This year’s event takes place on September 16th at the Davenport Grand Hotel in Spokane.

“Congresswoman Gabbard is renowned for her independent spirit and courage to speak her mind regardless of party or media pressures,” said Chris Cargill, WPC’s Eastern Washington Director. “She’s exactly the kind of speaker that will make this year’s annual dinner event unforgettable. We are thrilled to bring her to Spokane, and I think people will be excited to hear her message.”

Congresswoman Gabbard is a combat veteran with deployments to the Middle East and Africa. She currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. She ran for Congress at 31 years old, prevailed in a difficult election and went on to serve for eight years as a member of the Armed Services, Homeland Security, and Foreign Affairs Committees, where she dealt with highly sensitive national security issues. Tulsi Gabbard is the first female combat veteran to ever run for president.

“Congresswoman Gabbard has proven her independence and shown she is not afraid of cancel-culture,” remarked Paul Guppy, Interim WPC President and WPC Vice President for Research. “That’s not something most people in the public eye are willing to do. She refuses to compromise her principles and has the courage to stand firm. As an army officer and a public official, she has a world of experience to share, and we can’t wait to welcome her to Spokane.”

Additional WPC annual dinner event speaker announcements are expected soon. Tickets and additional information are available at WPCdinner.com.

Washington Policy Center’s annual dinner events have been must-attend events for lawmakers, citizen activists, and business leaders across the state for more than twenty-five years. They are among the largest events of their kind west of the Mississippi and have attracted some of the nation’s biggest newsmakers and thinkers. WPC’s 2022 Western Washington annual dinner event will be held on October 14 at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue and feature the 70th United States Secretary of State and former CIA Director, Michael Pompeo.
