Washington Policy Center added some wonderful talent to the development and Young Professionals departments this week. If you happen to interact with any of these folks, don’t forget to welcome them to WPC and thank them for joining the cause!

Shelbi Hogenson was hired as the new Development Manager at Washington Policy Center where she’ll be helping Sydney and her team.  Before joining Washington Policy Center, Shelbi was a Legal Program Specialist at Han Santos, PLLC. She notably developed several comprehensive Intellectual Property Counseling programs on behalf of a Tier-1 telecommunications client. She also managed the firm's Corporate & Securities practice.

Shelbi previously served as the Legislative Assistant to Representative Melanie Stambaugh in the Washington State House of Representatives. Her work in Olympia made Shelbi a resource on public policy, specifically at the state level. Her Public Policy competencies include Higher Education, Transportation, State Government, and Consumer Privacy.

Nationally recognized, award-winning broadcaster Lia Knight has accepted the position of director of the WPC Young Professionals program. Lia’s nationally syndicated radio program, “The Lia Show” launched in 1998, which sounds like quite a while ago, but since we at WPC have been talking so much about the need for a cut to the state sales tax rate which last happened in 1982, it seems like yesterday! Lia’s show brought 24 years of broadcast success to almost 200 markets and now she wants to take that experience to help inspire young people toward free-markets! Outside of work she enjoys gardening and is an avid runner.  She also says it’s highly likely you’ll catch her at a 5k or running around Ft. Steilacoom Park in Lakewood where she currently resides, but that’s only because she hasn’t seen me run.

Also coming on board the Young Professionals’ cause is Paige Thibaut. Page is now the Western Washington Young Professionals Coordinator for Washington Policy Center. She grew up in Snohomish County and graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in political science and a minor in journalism. Paige is passionate about public policy and is excited to help further the mission of Washington Policy Center. In her spare time, Paige enjoys spending time outdoors or with friends and family.

It's going to be exciting to see what this new team does with the Washington Policy Center Young Professionals!

If your interaction with Washington Policy Center brings you in contact with any of our new team members, we hope you'll welcome them to the cause!
