Washington Policy Center (WPC) announced their new Agriculture policy director today, Pam Lewison, a Washington State University graduate with a Master’s degree in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications from Texas A&M.
“We are excited to have someone with her experience, education and passion for agriculture,” said Dann Mead Smith, President of WPC. “She’s a great fit for the position and respected in the field and is the right person to take this key WPC initiative to the next level after launching it two years ago.”
Lewison previously worked with the Washington Cattlemen’s Association and was a reporter for the Columbia Basin Herald. She and her husband farm in the Moses Lake area. She will work out of WPC’s Tri-Cities office.
“I grew up on a small, family farm and in a small farming community,” Lewison said. “I am excited and humbled to have the opportunity to find solutions for the policy issues farmers and ranchers face every day.”
WPC’s Initiative on Agriculture encourages policymakers to reduce the burden of excessive and unproductive regulation on family farmers and taxpayers. It puts the knowledge and experience of those who work the land at the center of agriculture policy utilizing free-market incentives and local solutions.
