Washington Policy Center will be back in the desert for our 17th Annual Evening in the Desert in Palm Springs! This is one of our most popular and exclusive events, welcoming our Pillar Society, President’s Council, Benefactor and Patron Members for an exciting weekend of events. Events include a cocktail reception on Friday and our main program on Saturday evening featuring Jonathan Choe, journalist and Senior Fellow with Discovery Institute's Center on Wealth and Poverty, as well as James Olson, former Chief of Counterintelligence at the Central Intelligence Agency. Be sure to join us for a welcome reception cocktail party, open house hosted by WPC's Board Chairman & Pillar Society President, Greg Porter on Friday evening.

 Jonathan Choe is a journalist and Senior Fellow with Discovery Institute's Center on Wealth and Poverty, covering homelessness issues for its Fix Homelessness initiative. Prior to joining Discovery, Choe spent several years as one of the lead reporters at KOMO-TV, consistently the top rated television station in Seattle. His in depth stories on crime and deep dive investigations into the homeless crisis led to measurable results in the community, including changes in public policy.

 

 

 


 

James Olson is the former Chief of Counterintelligence at the Central Intelligence Agency. He served for more than thirty years, mostly overseas in clandestine operations. He is a professor at Texas A&M University, where he teaches courses on intelligence and counterintelligence. Olson has been awarded the Intelligence Medal of Merit, the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, the Donovan Award, and several Distinguished Service Citations. Olson is the author of Fair Play: The Moral Dilemmas of Spying and To Catch a Spy: The Art of Counterintelligence. Prior to his career in the CIA, he served in the US Navy, where he attained the rank of lieutenant commander.
