Give

Honor your country and vote

To my fellow Washingtonians,

Today is Election day. That used to mean being encouraged to vote on that day, but now it means you're encouraged to have your vote turned in by  the close of the ballot collection boxes that day and that you may have voted anytime over the last week to ten days.  Many big issues are at stake: Washington State Supreme Court races, three initiatives and many, many state and local races and measures.

I want to encourage you to cast your vote. Make it count. Be heard.

This year is our nation's 250th birthday celebration. As Mike Rowe recently said at our annual policy dinner in Bellevue, the American Revolution was the achievement of the American Dream.  We created a self-governing nation. A constitutional Republic where individual rights are protected and every adult has their vote.

The sacrifice was great. And many more sacrifices have been made to pursue our more perfect union and maintain and grow our freedoms.

This year, be sure to honor that legacy, exercise that right that seems so commonplace now, and cast your vote.

In gratitude,
