Western Washington Annual Dinner 2016

Western Washington 2016 Annual Dinner was a success!

A huge thank you to all of those who joined us for this year’s Annual Dinner in Bellevue!

Over 1,400 people packed the Bellevue Hyatt for the events.

The Young Professionals event drew more than 300 college students and YPs.

And over $1.2 million dollars was raised at the Spokane and Bellevue 2016 Annual Dinner events!

More than 1,400 attendees gathered to celebrate Washington Policy Center’s 20th Anniversary and hear from Arthur Brooks and Daniel Hannan.  The evening kicked off with Annual Dinner Co-Chair, John Rindlaub, who welcomed guests and introduced our master of ceremonies, John Carlson, one of WPC’s founding members and host of "The John Carlson Show" on KVI.

During the program, we were happy to give three awards. WSU student, Sophia Steele, received our annual Jennifer Dunn-Thomsen Scholarship Award; WPC’s past leadership and founding members received the 2016 Champion of Freedom award in conjunction with our 20th Anniversary; and our speaker Arthur Brooks received the Columbia Award for his commitment to communicating the positive and compassionate message of conservative principles.

And we were honored when Arthur Brooks, President of one of the nation’s leading think tanks, American Enterprise Institute, took the stage and said “what an honor it is to me to be here with you this evening.  Washington Policy Center, what a wonderful organization.  I want to start by congratulating all of you here in the audience for supporting this great organization.  I can tell you that those of us working in the lesser Washington in Washington, DC, we see the good things that are going on here and we take consolation in the things that are going on here.  The sensible policy reforms that are coming from this great organization are due to your support.”

Daniel Hannan, member of the European Parliament from England, shared a similar message of thanks for our supporters that celebrated our anniversary with us, “Just imagine, 20 years along, imagine if Washington Policy Center hadn’t existed. If there had never been a WPC.  Do you imagine you’d have charter schools now if people hadn’t been pushing that?  I tell you what, do you imagine that this would be a state without an income if these guys hadn’t been making those arguments?  So all of you who support the work of this organization, please don’t think that it goes unnoticed or unappreciated.  All of you have other things that you could be doing with your resources or your time… thank you, all the way from the other side of the world, for doing your part.”

So thank you again to everyone, including the over 300 college students and young professionals in attendance, who joined us to make the evening special!
