No New Taxes for Washington

No new taxes. Automatically email this message to the governor, your state senator and your state representatives using the form you see here on the right. Washington families need affordability, but taxes have increased on everything from park fees and fishing licenses to gas and energy costs. For a decade, Washington budget surpluses funded legislators’ wish lists. The state general fund (NGF-O) grew from $33.6 billion in the 2013-15 biennium to $71.9 billion in the 2023-25 biennium – an increase of 51% even after accounting for inflation and population growth. Then in 2025, lawmakers passed the biggest tax increase in state history. Meanwhile, Washington state’s business tax climate has deteriorated significantly, falling from 6th best in 2014 to 5th worst in 2025. Taxpayers are leaving the state at a rate of one every 30 minutes.

The Legislature’s spending is unsustainable, irresponsible, and insensitive to families who have no choice but to live within their (diminishing) means. Even without additional taxes, state spending will continue rising. Many family budgets will not.

Washingtonians need a break – a course-correction toward responsible governance. Urge your elected officials to refuse to advance any budget that increases taxes.  A no-new-taxes approach will help balance legislative overreach and shield the people of Washington from additional financial pressures during already tough times.
