SEATTLE – Lia Knight, broadcast veteran known for her award-winning, nationally syndicated radio program, “The Lia Show,” has taken the reins of Washington Policy Center’s (WPC) Young Professional program. As Young Professionals Director, Lia will oversee WPC’s engagement, education, and expansion efforts with Washingtonians in the early stages of their careers.

“Lia has a fantastic record of accomplishment on a national scale,” extolled Mike Gallagher, WPC President and CEO.  “Lia brings a great blend of experience, energy, and charisma to our outreach program.  We couldn’t be happier that she’s decided to join our team and extremely excited to see what she does with it.”

WPC is a non-partisan, non-profit think tank that focuses on improving the lives of families and businesses in Washington State through fact-based policy solutions.  For over a quarter century, WPC has provided policy recommendations and analysis to policymakers, the media, and the public for free via its website, WashingtonPolicy.org.

Launched in 1998 from Seattle, The Lia Show brought 24 years of broadcast success to nearly 200 markets nationwide, and Knight expects to use that experience to her advantage. “My career was all about engaging young people,” Lia explained. “I sought to identify and relate compelling stories every day.  I can’t wait to engage young people in Washington and find ways to engage them with WPC’s content. Free markets create prosperity, opportunity, and allow dreams to come true. What’s a better source for stories than that?”

Knight’s experience in communications and media relations helped to inspire interests in both public service and politics, making WPC’s emphasis on policy a natural fit.

Lia is a wife, mother, grandmother, and a dog mom and lives with her husband in the Lakewood area.
