The Washington Institute announced today that their organization has a new name: The Washington Policy Center.

"Over the last few years the organization has seen substantial growth to the point that we are now the center for free-market, public policy research and education in our state," said Daniel Mead Smith, President. "We want a name to reflect this growth and our exciting plans for the future, as well as a name that has what we do as part of it: policy."

The mission and philosophy of the organization remain the same: To promote limited government and free market solutions for state and local issues, and to be Washington state's premier public policy institute providing high quality analysis and research for our state's citizens, policymakers and media.

"We consider media outlets in Washington state to be influential to public policy and education," said Communications Director, Dan Zarelli. "We appreciate the relationship we have developed over the years and look forward to working with you as Washington Policy Center."

Along with our new name, Washington Policy Center has a new and completely revamped website, which includes all of our publications, and press releases, as well as a new logo as you can see from this release.

Visit the new website at: www.washingtonpolicy.org

To celebrate our new name we invite you to attend our Open House at our office in West Seattle on Wednesday, July 11th from 4:00-7:00pm. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our exciting plans for the future, as well as enjoy hors d'oeuvres with elected officials, business and community leaders, and members of our board and staff.
