SPOKANE– Agriculture will be on the agenda in Spokane this week, as Washington Policy Center (WPC) hosts its third and final Washington State Farm Hall of the year. The event will take place Wednesday, November 29th at the Far West Agribusiness Association at 5805 W. Thorpe Road in West Spokane. It starts at 12:00pm and is free and open to the public.

“Washington’s farm families and food processors provide our state with a huge economic benefit and at the same time, provide us all with food security,” explained WPC Agriculture Policy Research Director Madilynne Clark. “These Farm Halls provide us with a terrific opportunity to make sure the policies we’re adopting keep Ag a top priority for years to come.”

The Spokane Farm Hall panel will feature lawmakers and industry experts, including:

  • Senator Mark Schoesler
  • Senator Shelly Short
  • Chris Voight, Washington State Potato Commission
  • Jack Field, Washington State Cattle Feeders Association
  • Dan Wood, Washington State Dairy Federation
  • Jim Fitzgerald, Far West Agribusiness Association
  • Aaron Golladay, Washington State Farm Bureau
  • Michelle Hennings, Washington Assoc. of Wheat Growers

Started in 2015 by Senators Sharon Brown and Judy Warnick, Washington State Farm Hall events have gained a reputation as the place to discuss and learn about major issues facing Washington’s agricultural community.  WPC is proud to assume the major sponsoring role this year.

Those interested in attending can still register online at washingtonpolicy.org or by calling (509) 954-2449. Similar Farm Hall events were held in Tri-Cities and Lacey earlier this month.

WPC is an independent, non-profit research and educational organization with a statewide staff of 20 and offices in Spokane, Seattle, Tri-Cities and Olympia.

Washington Policy Center focuses on seven key research areas: Agriculture, Education, Environment, Government Reform, Health Care, Small Business & Labor Reform and Transportation. Ideas from WPC’s research centers are regularly implemented by voters and the legislature and are in the media, on average, seven times a day in Washington state.
