New WA Unemployment Rate = 8.4%

The Employment Security Department released Washington state's new unemployment rate for the month of February = 8.4%. The state lost approximately 25,000 jobs in the month of February. This is a 9 percent increase from January's 7.8% rate. 

The national rate is at 8.1%.

The Department said this in a release:

"This is the highest state unemployment rate since June of 1985 and it is the second consecutive month where the state has a higher rate than the nation."
