Washington Policy Center is pleased to co-sponsor the Discovery Institute's event, A Special Evening with George Gilder and Tom Alberg, The Information Economy: Creating the Next Boom.
Leading author and economist George Gilder - known in the 1980s as a supply-side prophet and in the 1990s as a technology futurist - has recently married the two fields in a groundbreaking new book, Knowledge and Power, hailed by Rich Karlgaard of Forbes Magazine as "the book of the year, maybe of the new millennium". In it, Gilder shows how - left to its own devices - an entrepreneurial economy will rescue itself and usher in a new era of American prosperity. The key is applying the insights of information theory to modern economics.
Join Discovery Institute Senior Fellow George Gilder and Madrona Venture Group Managing Director Tom Alberg for an engaging back-and-forth interview about the book, the state of the U.S. economy, and how to bring about the next big boom. As an innovation hub that has fostered the likes of Microsoft, Amazon and Isilon - while also generating a vibrant startup environment - Seattle is uniquely positioned to realize the promise of Gilder's take on economic revitalization. Audience Q&A will follow, along with a book signing. Register online today!
The event will be held Monday, September 23rd at Town Hall in Seattle, located at 1119 8th Ave. A reception will begin at 6 PM, followed by the program at 7 PM. Cost to attend is $10 and includes a selection of regional cheeses and other refreshments. Register online here.
