Help for 290,000 Washington Residents with Cancelled Health Insurance

January 13, 2014

The 2014 Washington state legislative session began today and Republicans have introduced a bill to help the 290,000 Washingtonians who had their health insurance policies cancelled because of Obamacare.

After realizing that millions of Americans would lose their health insurance, the President allowed waivers so these people could purchase catastrophic health insurance in the individual market. Our state insurance commissioner, however, refused to allow insurance companies to offer these high deductible plans.

This proposal would allow Washington residents to purchase catastrophic policies offered in other states. This is a good solution to a problem created by a bad law - Obamacare.
