The more I read about Dr. Alonso's cutting-edge reforms for running a school district, the more excited I get.
I've already written about how Dr. Alonso has strengthened school leadership, here, by giving school principals control over their budgets.
But I haven't covered his innovative new teacher contract, ratified last month, which allows Baltimore City teachers to earn more when they raise student achievement, and to extend school hours if 80% agree.
And I haven't covered his plans to expand the potential pool of teachers and principals by streamlining credentialing requirements for qualified professionals.
This will have to happen later---we have to get ready for his visit!
