Free Markets Destroy Creating Meaningful Conversations

Stories from across the country are coming in about how Free Markets Destroy is helping spark conversations, and we love to see it. When conversations can start, provoked by a single idea, the exchange can create some awesome dialogue and learning. One such story comes from Aaron Miller from Tennessee:

Just wanted to share a quick story from my small town tonight.

A friend and I went out for beers at a local place, and they have food trucks show up front to augment their great local beer selection. I was wearing my Free Markets Destroy shirt that I got from America's Future that says "The End is Just the Beginning" with a picture of Blockbuster on it. The food truck guy stared at my shirt for a few seconds and complimented me on it. Even my buddy took a look and said "What does it mean?" So I explained that it was commentary on how the Free Market always finds a way to grow and innovate, with the consumer and the private sector benefiting. It sparked a conversation between the three of us, and the guy running the food truck told us about when he was younger and working at a local video store, Blockbuster bought them out because they couldn't adapt. But then Blockbuster didn't adapt to Netflix. And so on and so forth, and how it sometimes seems sad to see nostalgic things go, but that it is ultimately for the good of all when the market finds a better way to provide the good or service.

He told us that he lost his job during the pandemic, and had no idea what he would do. But as restaurants closed down, food trucks boomed. While he never thought he would be running a food truck, he's grateful for the life he has now. We shared our concerns for the future but were all glad to find others in the community that thought like us. I pointed him to the Free Markets Destroy brand, and we cheerfully parted ways (the food was great).

It's incredible to see what a small thing like wearing a t-shirt can do in spreading the message of Liberty and free-market economics.
