PRESS RELEASE

Spokane will host the state’s largest policy event next week with former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker headlining Washington Policy Center’s (WPC’s) annual Solutions Summit.  Hundreds of state and local lawmakers, community and business leaders, media and citizen activists from across the state will attend the all-day policy conference.

“Too often in policy debates it seems like Washington state doesn’t stretch beyond the Seattle metro area,” said Chris Cargill, WPC’s Eastern Washington Director.  “With Spokane hosting this year’s Summit, we get to highlight Eastern Washington’s importance to the entire state.”

This year marks a change in the event format. The Solutions Summit has become an all-day event and now includes breakout sessions to give participants a wider selection of presentations to choose from and more audience interaction.

Panel presentations with topics such as government reform, taxes, the road use charge (mileage tax), and school choice will feature nationally-recognized state and local speakers as well as Washington Policy Center’s expert research staff. Smaller breakout sessions will include discussions on Seattle’s dominance of Washington politics, influencing millennials, and how to influence public policy on a local level.

“We set out to make the Solutions Summit bigger than ever and we’ve done it,” explained Cargill. “More topics, more interaction, and the biggest keynote speaker I think we’ve ever had at a Solutions Summit.  It’s really a can’t-miss event.”
