SPOKANE – Is Spokane helping or hindering the homeless? The community will come together at Washington Policy Center’s launch of its Young Professionals Spokane Chapter to hear from a panel discussion and seek answers and solutions to Spokane’s growing homeless problem – its root causes and solutions.

“Spokane: Helping or Hindering the Homeless” will take place Thursday, June 13th from 6-8 pm at the Historic Montvale Event Center on 1st Ave Downtown. This event is open to the community, individuals 40 years and younger. Citizens are invited to register today at washingtonpolicy.org/events. WPC and WPC YP members can attend for FREE while non-member tickets are $10.

“This is one of the top issues across the Northwest,” explained WPC Young Professionals Director Miranda Hawkins, who will be moderating the discussion. “The WPC Young Professionals group is hoping to provide a platform for civil and respectful discourse so that our community can work together on this pressing issue.”

Featured panelists at the event include Spokane City Councilwoman Kate Burke, Jonathan Mallahan, Vice President of Housing at Catholic Charities, Mark Richard, President and CEO of Downtown Spokane Partnership, and Phil Altmyer, Executive Director at Union Gospel Mission.

Washington Policy Center’s Young Professionals group engages and educates future leaders about sound policy while advancing free-market solutions through relationship building, events and outreach.
