Traffic congestion in the Puget Sound is increasingly worse each year. In fact, Seattle is ranked fourth for the worst traffic congestion in the United States.

As the urgency for congestion relief increases, citizen groups and policy makers look to new and innovative solutions that will get people to where they want to go faster, cheaper and safer.

Organized and moderated by the Center for Advanced Transportation and Energy Solutions, the Advanced Transportation Technologies Conference will address:

  • How automated, connected, electric and shared vehicles would impact and transform mobility in our region;
  • How policymakers can prepare for, accelerate, and integrate these transportation solutions to reduce congestion;
  • How public-private partnerships might be utilized to test and deliver new technology to the public.

The speakers will include:

  • Tom Alberg: the co-founder and managing director of the Madrona Venture Group and a leading proponent of autonomous, connected and shared vehicles. Tom is a director of Amazon.com and was ranked number 12 of the 35 most influential business leaders in the Seattle area by the Puget Sound Business Journal.

  • Bryan Mistele: CEO of INRIX, the nation’s leading traffic intelligence provider, whose focus is “connecting cars to smarter cities and understanding the science of traffic.” There are 15 million connected cars worldwide powered by INRIX, which utilizes data and technology to improve urban mobility. Bryan currently serves on the board of the Discovery Institute, and has also served as a member of the United States Department of Transportation’s ITS Advisory Committee.

  • Steve Banfield: CEO of BMW’s ReachNow, a new car-sharing company in Seattle that allows people to use a vehicle at 41 cents per minute, easily accessed through a cell phone app. Prior to ReachNow, Steve worked as the chief marketing officer at INRIX and led the acquisition of ParkMe, which allows drivers to find, reserve and pay for parking in advance. He has also held leadership positions at Sony, Microsoft, Paramount Pictures and RealNetworks.

The conference will take place on Friday, December 2nd from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at the Meydenbauer Conference Center in Bellevue.

Tickets, materials and lunch are $50. Those who are interested in attending can register here.
