Fighting minimum wage hikes?  There’s an app for that.

"They specialize in selling burgers. We specialize in fighting."

This quote from one of the founders of the $15 minimum wage movement is the inspiration behind a new mobile app designed to help level the playing field.

Labor unions (and the myriad front groups they fund) have made agitating in favor of higher wages a full time job.  Most small business owners, on the other hand, don’t have the time or resources to specialize in fighting costly government mandates; they’re too busy running their business and worrying about generating enough revenue to pay those higher wages.  Fighting is a luxury they simply don’t have.

That’s why the Employment Policies Institute (EPI) has launched Wage Engage, a mobile app that helps business owners tell their story to the people who represent them. It is designed to make it easy to contact the right legislators about minimum wage legislation that affects their business and its employees.

The app will keep business owners informed with a curated news feed focusing on the minimum wage debate and send them instant notifications when the status of any legislation affecting their business changes.  It will also provide an easy-to-use template that allows them to contact their legislators and, with the touch of a button, send personalized letters explaining how a higher minimum wage would impact their business and their employees.

EPI says the goal of the app to given business owners a voice on minimum wage.  The app will help business owners humanize the minimum wage issue by explaining to lawmakers the real world consequences of artificially high wage mandates.
