Arkansas Governor and Recent NGA Chairman Mike Huckabee Available for Interviews at Washington Policy Center Annual Dinner
Seattle - Washington Policy Center, the state's premier independent public policy research organization, welcomes Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, currently the longest serving governor in the country, as a featured speaker at their 2006 Annual Dinner, on September 26th in Seattle. Huckabee is available for interviews while he is in Seattle on Tuesday the 26th and the morning of Wednesday, September 27th.
Governor Mike Huckabee is recognized as a national leader in the areas of education and health care reform, and has been mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in 2008.
He is the past chairman of the National Governor's Association (NGA), and was recently cited in the news as part of a bi-partisan effort to discourage the provision of the National Defense Authorization Act allowing the President to federalize the National Guard without the consent of a state's governor in case of natural disaster or homeland-security threats. The NGA recently sent a letter to the Chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees expressing their concerns with this new proposal.
Huckabee is also the author of a new book about the need for Americans to change their lifestyles, "Quit Digging Your Grace With A Knife And Fork," after losing 110 lbs himself. The book was published by Time Warner Book Group and was released last May.
Washington Policy Center will hold their Annual Dinner at The Westin Hotel - Seattle on Tuesday, September 26th with a reception beginning at 6:00 pm and dinner starting at 7:00 pm. Award recipients and speakers also include Pulitzer Prize winning author and journalist George Will, and retired CEO of PACCAR Charles Pigott.
Gov. Huckabee is available for interviews by contacting Lyndsey Hartje at 206-937-9691 or lhartje@washingtonpolicy.org to receive more information on his appearance and the Dinner.
